Going Beyond Search

Search, Search, Search, that's all that people are talking about today. Google, Yahoo and Microsoft are competing with each other to try to be the number one search engine. Why? Because the number one search engine gets huge amounts of traffic and traffic equals revenue. Whether it is from ads or from services they can market, search engines stand much to gain from 'being number one'.

But do the search engines as they stand today fit the demands and requirements of the next generation of internet users?

As the internet grows and the amount of information on it becomes so immense that for every simple search you get thousands of results, the efficiency of the search engine goes down. The search algorithms spend most of their time and computational resources trying to eliminate spam. As a result they can barely keep up with the load of information, let alone sort it in an efficient and intelligent way. So what happens to us, the end user, is that we don't get what we are really looking for. Now it takes longer to search through the search results than it takes to actually read the information being searched for.

Search engines must migrate to more intelligent ways of sorting data and handling search queries in order to keep up with the new generation of internet users, who are already finding alternatives to search because of lack of satisfaction. Blog communities, forums and other alternatives to search engines are becoming more and more popular these days, mainly because the search engines aren't as good as they should be and it is hard to find information searching on them.

An understanding of the information written on the web page and the query typed into the search box would help the search engines better themselves in every aspect of the process. The understanding of the information on the web page will enable the search algorithm to sort the page appropriately. Understanding the query can help the search engine supply more accurate results to the user being that the search engine knows what the user is looking for, not only the words the user entered in the query. An added bonus the search engine would get from understanding the query is that the ad engine can put more relevant ads on the page and hence greatly increase the advertising revenue.

Even some of the most basic elements of understanding are lacking in today's search algorithms. None of the search engines on the web today can resolve even the most basic ambiguity or understand other basic language elements like negation (not, besides, without etc..). Breaking the sentence down to its basic meaning would allow the algorithm to handle negation, and even more difficult tasks such as understanding a question placed in the search box.

For example, if a user searches for this: "I really need a cheap car that gives good gas mileage" an intelligent, understanding robot would be able to understand that the user is not looking for the words that describe the query, and only search for "cheap car, good gas mileage" and omit the words "I really need a" and "that gives" from the search query. Not only that, if the search engine is intelligent and has a knowledge base behind it, it will be able to know which cars are cheap and give good gas mileage and return those results, not limiting the results to the pages containing the words "cheap car, good gas mileage".

Most of the technologies needed to enable the above mentioned features have been around for a long time, but have not come to good use due to the lack of a strong syntactic engine. Linguistic Agents Ltd (LA), in Jerusalem Israel has developed such an engine that can enable all of these features plus many more. The technologies LA has created break the sentence down into a basic predicate/argument structure allowing the computer to extract the meaning of the sentence from the resulting output. These technologies use the latest advancements in theoretical linguistics and breaks the sentence down to its basic meaning almost in the same way that the brain breaks down the meaning of a sentence. This advanced level of understanding allows for extremely intelligent computation including, but not limited to, the intelligent search examples listed above.

Imagine a new age of computation where computers understand what they are told. All of this is made possible by LA's advanced algorithms. Not only are these algorithms extremely advanced, they are also very light weight. The entire Intelligence Engine is so small it can be imbedded in client side Flash movies or even in AJAX applications. This would allow the search engines to parse the query and extract the core meaning and only then transmit the query to the server, saving valuable resources.

Things are going to change as we move to more intelligent applications and "Go Beyond Search".

Getting Your Site Indexed Before You Launch

I've noticed that most SEO articles focus on what to do after you launch your site. Those that do deal with preparing your site for launch usually discuss on-site SEO like keyword research and meta tags. What tends to be neglected is the advantage that you can gain by getting your site indexed before you launch. With a little planning and a few hours of work it's easy to be indexed by Google, Yahoo, and MSN before your site goes live.

The key to getting your site indexed in the big three is getting links pointing to it from sites that are already indexed. When the search bots crawl those sites they will inevitably find the link to your site and your site will be added to their index. Follow these five steps a month before you launch and you'll be a step ahead of the game.

1. Register your domain name. You'd be surprised how many people wait until the last minute to do this. The sooner you register your domain, the sooner you can get some quality links pointing to it and get it indexed.

2. Put up a home page. Make a “coming soon” page with your logo, information about your site, and expected launch date. You can also add a form for people to sign up for email updates about your site. This starts building your email marketing list before you even launch.

3. Start a blog and sign up for Feedburner. Put up a blog at www.yoursite.com/blog. It doesn't matter if you use WordPress, Blogger, or whatever blog platform you prefer, just make sure you host it on your site. Make a few posts about your site, what people can expect when it launches, and why your site will be unique. After your first post, sign up for a Feedburner account at http://www.feedburner.com/. Under 'Publicize' in your account make sure to sign up for 'Ping Shot'. This will notify blogging directories of your posts which hopefully will result in a few links to your site.

4. Write a few articles and submit to directories. Regardless of what your site is about, there is certainly a topic relating to your site that you could write an article about. For example, if your site is going to sell fitness equipment, you could write an article about how to build a home-gym. Or if you are going to rate and review new cars, you could write an article about how to shop for a new car. After you've written and proofread your articles, submit them to article directories like Ezine Articles (http://www.ezinearticles.com/) and iSnare (http://www.isnare.com/). Be sure to include a description of your new site and a link back to it in the resource box. Again, this should result in a few links to your site.

5. Get a link from an indexed site. Steps 3 and 4 should result in some links from indexed sites which should then ensure your site to be indexed. But it can't hurt to get a few more on your own to be certain. When I launched my last site, I linked to it from my personal blog, which I knew was indexed. If you don't have that option, you can ask someone with a blog or site related to yours to mention it. If you can't find anyone willing to do it for free, you could offer them some free advertising on your site when you launch in exchange for the link.

Getting yourself indexed before you launch gives you a head start on your SEO and will allow your site to have a more immediate impact. Why wait until you launch? Get started a month early and you'll reap the benefits when launch day rolls around.

How To Increase Your Site Traffic And Succeed With Your Affiliate Marketing Programs

As an affiliate marketer, your main objective is to sell the products and or services offered by your partner merchants. Unless you can do this, you can never hope to make a significant amount of money with affiliate marketing programs. So how do you boost sales? All things being equal, you have to increase your site traffic before you can get more sales. By the law of averages, the more people that are know of the products you are offering, the more products you will sell.

Here are a few tips that can help you boost your site traffic:

1. Optimize your site for the search engines, SEO. The most successful sites on the Internet are the ones that are seen the most. There are many ways to achieve increased visibility on the Internet, but the best method is that of search engine optimization. The details are too technical to discuss here, (here is a great tool to learn SEO, http://tinyurl.com/mogbx) but the purpose of SEO is to help your site get higher rankings on the search engines. If you have ever used a search engine, such as Google, you will notice that any keyword search will return thousands, if not millions of results. Most people won't bother to browse through page after page of results; they will prefer to look into the sites already shown on the first page. Statistically speaking, the sites listed on the first page will get the highest amount of traffic, putting those sites in a better position to make money.

2. Provide fresh content. Your site must be constantly updated if you expect your visitors to keep coming back. Your site must have useful content, as well as tools that will help your target audience. Make your site as easy to navigate as possible, and be sure that your links work the way that they should. There is nothing more frustrating than a “broken” website, and once your site has been labeled as such, chances are slim that people will want to come back.

3. Build an online community. Join some forums and meet people. Build relationships with your potential customers. You are able to put a signature file in many of the forums so be sure to put a link to your site in your signature. Make your visitors feel welcome and appreciated, and they are likely to come back. Be interested in solving their problems and they will thank you with their business.

Making your affiliate marketing program work is really not that much different from operating a traditional business. The only way you can keep your customers is to treat them right. As long as you treat your customers with respect and exert effort in trying to meet their needs, you will find that they will be more than willing to help you with yours.

Internet Home Business Tips

There are three important things to consider when running an Internet home business. All will help to increase the fair market value of your company. A web site is a great source of advertising and distribution for a home Internet business. The name of the game is cash flow and one needs to know how to generate this in the virtual world. How will the World Wide Web help out your home business and gain you some cash flow?

Expand markets and increasing sales. The Internet gives the business owner a chance at a much broader market area. There are no more geographic restrictions to hold you back. Simply just building a web site won’t automatically grant you more business. You will need to market to your targeted audience to gain more business. Once properly marketed a web site is a very effective way to reach new and current customers. This can truly make sales a great thing. The web provides the company with a 24 hour per day 7 days a week brochure to be viewed at the client’s leisure. A professional looking web page is of the utmost importance. It is the client or potential client’s first view of who you are and what you do. You will want to utilize Search Engine Optimization (SEO) to increase the traffic onto your site and get better and higher ratings. This will make sure your web site is in the first few pages of search results. You can also hire a consultant to help you with marketing if you don’t know what you are doing. Alternatively you can use an automation software like SEO Elite to help you reaching the top spots of the search engines (http://www.my-linker.com/hop/seo_elite).

Maximize your profitability. Using the Internet will also allow you to increase your profitability. Not to mention streamline automation in your home business. It will be easy for your customers to order replacements parts, refer friends and family, and order new products you carry faster. You will only be a click away from a sale. You will be able to use e-mail to show off new products and give your customers coupons. Make sure to have a spot on your web site that allows the customer or potential customer to fill in their name and e-mail address. This will allow you to give them promotions and newsletters regularly. The more they see and hear from you the better off you will be and the more you will make.

Increase customer retention. The Internet also provides a great amount of customer contact and support. Being readily available for immediate response to your clients makes them trust and respect you. They will want to do business with you again. Also the content that you provide your customers with will also keep them coming back to hear the latest news and learn more. This is a great way to keep customers visiting till a new product is introduced. They will be more likely to buy from you again if they got to read about the benefits and have faith you will be there for them.

Google Wants To Help You Succeed

All too often, we see Google pictured as the "evil" company who’s just out to get you, and to make your life miserable.

While at times it might seem that way, it's just not true.

No… Google is not going to come banging on your door to sit down next to you and help you design your website, but they do provide a wealth of traffic assistance for the webmaster who’s willing to look for it.

Take the Google sitemaps program for example.

Google wants to know about ALL your pages. When you consider the billions of webpages that are on the Internet now, that’s a daunting task. The way that they discover YOUR pages is by "spidering" your website. This is also called crawling. This is done through automated robots that will look through your website and follow the links to discover other pages. When it does, it puts those pages into a database, which they will use to ultimately decide which page will get listed and which one doesn’t.

If you make this process easy for them, they can reward you with much faster spidering of your website. This is especially advantageous if you have a large website.

Google has a program called their "sitemaps" program. What you do is place a specially formatted XML file on your computer that includes links to all of your web pages, and other information related to your website, such as how often you update your website and so on.

We’ve found that compiling the datafeed the way Google requires it can be a little bit intimidating.

There are programs available that will help you to do that.

When you’re building a website, it’s very easy to make a mistake in a link, especially when building a large site. This can be disastrous when Google comes around to view your website and it can hurt you tremendously. The better programs not only spider the site as Google would and builds your Google sitemap.xml file automatically, but if it encounters errors, it gives you an error log so that you can correct the errors BEFORE you submit your sitemap to Google.

This is VERY important. If Google tries to spider a site that has bad or missing links in it, then your chances of being listed in their search engine are VERY slim.

Google’s official website on this subject is at this URL: https://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/login you’ll find a good explanation of their sitemap program.

Google sitemaps should be a part of every webmaster’s website submission plan. It does not necessarily help with your search engine positioning or ranking, but it will help you to get all your pages spidered quickly, which is the first step to getting your pages listed in the search engines.

Page Generator Or Page Cloaking? Is There A Difference?

There are many, many SEO techniques out there today. A lot has changed in the last 10 years. One thing that has not changed is the willingness of webmasters or so called "SEO specialists, to try to trick search engines.

It's only natural that when a challenge is placed in front of some, they must overcome that challenge. The challenge here is how to get to the top of the search engine with your keyword. Most search engines have put methods in place to give the most relevant answer to your search query. So, it's not fair if you use that against them. For example, you have a websites selling "wonder soap" but you use keywords like "paris hilton." All just to get that traffic search to your website. Maybe someone will buy it anyway.

Well, the search engines & me & you don't think that's fair. I want whatever search I've asked for to give me the most relevant websites that might have an answer for me. Because, keep in mind, I'm searching for other websites through a Website. A search engine website. I want to save time, not find 2 million irrelevant results.

So, you see the challenges. It becomes a cycle of sorts. Hence, the creation of the SEO specialist & firms. A whole new industry forms.

True SEO is making sure your website follows basic logical parameters. BE RELEVANT.

Tools that are questionable are Page generators & Cloaking software.

Page generators do just that, make web pages. Lot's of them. Early generators made lot's of the same pages just to have bulky websites. They had the same content over & over again. Generators today work much better. They have relevant content. Lot's of different content. Lot's & lot's of keywords. And they all point to your main page.

Page cloaking software makes webpages invisible to people but not to search engines. There are lot's keyword pages with very little content and are meant to trick the search engines into thinking you have more relevant webpages than you actually have.

Cloaking is frowned upon by search engines. If you read the fine print on Yahoo, etc. you'll find it's all there in black & white.

Page generators, however, walk a fine line. They can be used abusively or used as a time saver. An ethical SEO specialist will use this software to create RELEVANT, CONTENT RICH, web pages. A reasonable amount. Not thousands of irrelvant keyword pages just pointing to your main web site.

So, is there a difference. Yes. But, more importantly, there is is the difference in how the are used.

Be wise. Go for the long term, ethical success. Stick with the organic, logical, ethical, fair, & practical methods.

Keywords, Content And Copywriting

Today WebPages must compete for survival just like animals in the wild. Natural selection isn’t just a concept limited to Mother Nature. Even in the world of cyberspace there is a “law of the jungle”. Search engine optimization or (SEO) lies at the core of this law. Many skills must be mastered to rise to the top. Three important ones are keywords, content and copywriting. Let’s begin with the first of the three.

Keywords are extremely important because they act as a marker for search engines. Keywords can be placed anywhere on a website. Besides being noticed they must be carefully selected. You must take care to choose keywords that are not only relevant to your site but also that are likely to be used by those who are searching for what is on your site. Several things must be taken into account. Variations in spelling of the keywords as well as spelling errors can conceivably drive traffic to your site. The links in your site are a vitally important spot to place keywords because not only will they be noticed by search engines but they will also direct people to the other pages on your site thus increasing your ranking.

Content is the second factor here. Beyond the obvious fact that the content of your site is what people are going to read when they get to your site the content is the larger aspect of keywords. The keywords may be the specific point that a search may target but the better your content in both amount but quality the easier it will be to place you keywords. Imbedding keywords in content is one way to get them spotted by search engines but good content will force you to have good keywords. As it has been said the best way to hide something is in plain sight.

To better facilitate the use of the aforementioned factors you must understand copyright concepts. Certain things can be copyrighted and certain things can’t. Slogans, titles, names and related items can’t be copyrighted although titles can be trademarked. One important thing to keep in mind is how you use something. The context of how you use a word or phrase or what have you can violate a copyright or not. Copyright in many areas is tricky so be careful. Things created by the government are free domain as well as donated items or things people give permission to use by other people for any purpose.

Learn the rules before you play the game.

Press Release: Why SEO Experts Should Not Use Press Releases

Rumor has it that press releases are the next big thing in the SEO business, and many companies are spending top dollars trying to write the next big press release announcing the next big balloon breaking technology. But is this really the next big thing?

By definition, a Press Release is a kind of news item released by the company on whom the news is being reported. As such, you will have to compete with all the other press releases and hope that your will get picked up.

Why Will Your Press Release Be Trashed?
1) Unless you are writing a press release about Microsoft, Adobe, Sony or one of the other mega-companies, or at least about a company that is relatively well known, forget about it. Journalists and news editors receive thousands of press releases a day and there is no way that they will waste more than a quick glance. So why should you pay a company seven to eight hundred dollars for them sending your press release to thousands of editors and journalists when they are going to junk it anyway?

2) Unless you are announcing a truly revolutionary product or technology (which I assume you are not since you are only interested in using the professionally paid and written press release to boost your search engine rankings), whatever you make up or announce such as some new free deal or new portal offering something unique, your chances of being picked up are very slim. Yes, the PR companies will tell you that they have vast experience in writing Press Releases that will make yours stand out and get picked up but this is not accurate. The only way your PR is going to get picked up is if it truly is something out of the ordinary or something that no one has ever thought off.

3) Unless you plan to spend millions of dollars and then just by sheer volume your site will go ahead in the search engines, this is not a good option. Why? If you send a large number of press releases then these will be placed on the different PR companies websites main page. Since most of these home pages have a very high page rank, your site will get a boost. The question is whether this boost is worth the large amount of money you will put into the PR companies pocket. No it is not. Use that money to buy (though I do not recommend this) links from high-ranked websites and you will pay less and receive more benefit.

4) Any press release, even if it has been accepted, will remain on the different pages for just a short time, making the time and effort and even more so the amount of money you paid fruitless.

Conclusion:
A press release is useful if you wish to contact the press and maybe get some free publicity, but it is of no use if you wish to use it as a tool in order to advance your website in the search engines.

How I doubled my Adsense Earnings

When I joined the Adsense Program in 2004, I made $0.43 for the first month, $0,91 for the second month and so forth.

Only in September 2006 I joined the $100 group. To be more precise, my first payment was approximately $170. It was then that I realized the potential of Google Adsense. I mean, to wait almost two years to see an income with Google Adsense is a very long time. But it was well worth it. I read posts of other people complaining that they are not making with the Adsense Program, but their website is online for two or three weeks. Yep, the money-makers.

Well, after that first $170 I was really into it, if you know what I mean. I thought to myself, how can I increase my revenue with the Google Adsense Program even more? What is the secret of other people? So started my whole venture. And what did I found out? THE BIG CONTENT IS KING. So I

decided that I am going to put more content on my web site. You know, at the time I did not realize that I can write articles myself.

To tell you the truth, at that time I did not know about SEO (did not even know what it meant). I hear that it means SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION. (Now does that not sound very technical? But lets leave SEO for yet another article, shall we?

Anyways, what I noticed was that I was getting more than the $170 each month. The $170 went up to $300, then $350 and so on. Now I average at around $25 a day! And let me tell you, it is not going to stop.

You can even exchange links with other sites to improve you pagerank and google adsense earnings. The more backlinks you have, the more visitors you will get, believe me.

You can send an email to other webmasters asking them to exchange links with your site. The best advise I can give you is to put a backlink to the other site first on your site, then mention in your email to the other webmaster what you did and give him/her the url to your link page. Most will do the same to you.

Something very important is to visit a web site and tell the webmaster what his/her site is about, what your site is about and how it will benefit both of you to exchange links.

One more thing. You are free to use this article on your website provided that it stays unaltered and the links in the resourcebox is live, search-engine friendly links.

DO NOT STEAL. IT IS NOT WORTH IT.

SEO – White Hat Success or Black Hat Exclusion

In the process of trying to gain popularity and bring in more business, there are some companies that look at adopting some of the common modes of leveraging through Search engine optimization. This might help them or back fire and lead to their site getting black listed from the index. So, at the end of the day, it really does not matter how good or bad their site is, but what means they adopt to increase traffic.

The two methodologies available for SEO is White hat SEO or Black Hat SEO. The names might sound confusing, but they are modes through which people attract visitors to the page. One of this is ethical while the other is unethical and considered similar to cheating. So, when an individual or organisation is desperate for some visibility, they might adopt this mode, which unfortunately leads them to trouble.

White hat is the direct way of search engine marketing and mode of internet marketing through which the user follows guidelines. They use techniques approved by the Search engines. By tweaking the website, or adding some extra words that might attract attention, the user will rely on links, or Pay per click management to increase their traffic. There are no tricks or shortcuts used here; the content of the page is created to serve the user with information and not just for the SEO benefit. Also called organic search listings, these sites rely on their own strengths rather than manipulating the system.

On the other hand, black hat SEO is a route less preferred because it leads to banning of the website if discovered. Here, the owner of the site might have put in content just so they lure search engines. It could be text hidden in the back drop, or placed off the screen. It is also called spamdex, and is unethical, not approved by the search engines either. Cloaking or invisible text are also used in these sites to lure customers to come over to their portal. Here, the user is trying to con the search engine into believing their website has relevant text when a keyword is entered and so tries to increase the ranking of that portal. Search engine optimization through this method will lead to expulsion and loss of rank of the particular website from the index and it will not be shown in the results displayed on the search engines.

The benefit of One-Way links from Web Directories

There are so many rules that search engines follow to determine which site gets ranked number one for certain search words and so on and so forth. However, one of these criteria includes links so that is something you should focus on if you are interested in increasing your traffic and rankings with the search engines.

You may not know how to go about getting one way links to your website, but it really is pretty easy. All you need to do is start listing your website in different web directories and before long you will have plenty of links pointing back to your website. This is really important and something you want to focus on because if you do not have links to your site then getting ranked high in the search engines will be difficult.

Why Do you Need Links for the Search Engines?

Nobody knows for sure exactly what formula the many search engines use to rank websites, but it is known that links to your website make up a big percentage of where your website is ranked. Obviously, the higher your website is ranked in the search engines the more visitors will click on your site and the more traffic you will have. Because of this the success of your website just might depend on how many links you have pointing back to your site on the Internet. Think of it as a popularity contest and the website with the most links is the most popular and wins a high ranking in the search engines as a result. So, the higher your site ranks in the search engines the more visitors your site will receive and the more money you will make! One way links and search engines rankings have a great cause and effect relationship so you should get started today.

Web directories are one of the best way to get the needed one way links to your website and they offer many benefits to your site other than helping your site get a high ranking with the search engines. Also, web directories all you to submit your site to a category and then a human edits your site information in order to approve it for the directory. Many people use directories to find information and websites as opposed to search engines, so when you use a web directory or web directories for linking purposes you will also be able to attract traffic due to the individuals who visit the directory looking for website.

When you use website directories to list your website or even websites you will quickly realize an increase in your sites rankings with the search engines as well as increased traffic due to this as well as traffic from the directory. GO ahead and increase your business and website traffic and start listing your site with the many web directories today!

What is a Web Directory

A web directory in it's simplest form can be thought of as a human indexed search engine. Humans can visit a directory website and make resource suggestions through an online form. A human editor will review the suggestion and add it to the directory provided it meets the submission guidelines for the directory.

General vs Niche Directories

There are two major types of web directories on the internet, general and niche. A general web directory will have it's resources sorted into a large number of categories covering a wide range of topics. Niche web directories tend to focus on one subject with resources sorted into a smaller number of highly related categories.

Purpose of Web Directories

The major purpose of a web directory is to provide directory users with a categorized list of high quality websites from a chosen field or industry. With the advent of search engines as the preferred method for finding internet resources the importance of directories as information provider's has diminished. But, as search engine technology and the field of search engine optimization have evolved, a new use for web directories has materialized.

Directories and Link Popularity

Current search engine ranking algorithms place a huge importance on back links to a website as an indicator of it's importance on the internet (known as link popularity). Search engine's value links to websites from web directories because these directories have human editors. Having your website listed in a respected web directory is an indicator to the search engines that your website has met a certain standard for quality and is a site worth linking to.

Search engine's also tend to serve up category pages from trusted web directories near the top of their search results so having your website listed in as many high quality web directories as you can should be part of any website marketing plan, especially when your website is new.

Getting your website listed in a web directory is also an excellent way to build high quality, search engine friendly back links to your website and gain targeted web traffic from both directory users and the boost to your search engine rankings from the increased link popularity of your website.

Please note, it is worth taking the time to carefully review a directory prior to making a submission. Not all directories are search engine friendly or provide traffic to their listings so it is up to the submitter to gather as much information about the web directory submission guidelines, linking structure and reputation prior to submitting a resource for inclusion.

How to build links the easy way with Pyramid Linking

Building quality links to your website has always been one of the most difficult and tedious methods of search engine optimisation. Good quality links are hard to obtain and with reciprocal linking being devalued by popular search engines such as Google the task is getting even harder.

A new free to use website called www.pyramidlinking.com is poised to make link building easy once again. In 2006 it’s not often that a genuinely new idea appears on the internet but Pyramid Linking looks to be one of the big new sites of the year.

With over 500 links exchanged between 100 users within hours of the sites unofficial launch its clear that webmasters are as keen as ever to build links.

Each website that signs up is given a list of sites to link to. Once the links have been validated the site is added to the link queue and will receive twice as many links as it donated.

The links obtained using the site are one-way static links in plain html so there are no scripts to install or tracking code to leave a footprint for search engines to detect. The links obtained are all relevant and, due to the nature of the program, are all of a higher PageRank than the links donated.

An innovative referral program will give all users the opportunity to earn 5 extra links for each new user they refer.

Pyramid Linking is run by a team of experienced programmers and SEO professionals with experience dating back to 1998. The site has been designed to be usable and offer maximum information about the program.

Why not take a look at the www.pyramidlinking.com website and see how easy it could be to build your links? It could be the best opportunity of the year for your website.

Linking From High Pagerank Sites The Easy Way

One of the components of getting traffic from the search engines is to have another site linking to you.

You want to get links from a site that is frequently visited by the search engine spiders. The spiders will crawl the site and find the link to your page.

To find sites that get visited by the spiders frequently, you can view the pagerank of the sites. I will not go into detail about how Google determines pagerank or even what pagerank is for brevity.

You can find the pagerank of a site by either installing the Google toolbar or visiting third party sites such as:

Sites are given pagerank between 0 and 10. A rule of thumb is that you'll want to get links from sites with a pagerank of at least 5. Those sites get visited by the search engine spiders at least once a day.

To get links from sites with pagerank of 5 you can send the webmaster a link exchange request, submit content for their sites or you can take the simple method as outlined below.

Ezinearticles.com is a site where people visit and submit their articles for other publishers to use as content on their sites. You can go there and sign up for free to submit your own articles.

If your articles are approved, then they'll be published on that site and you'll have a link to your sites. If you check the pagerank of http://Ezinearticles.com, you'll find that it's a pagerank 6 site.

Just recently, http://Ezinearticles.com has added a commenting feature where you can put comments about any article.

Here's how to comment on any of the more than 150k+ articles in http://EzineArticles.com's database:

1. Go to http://EzineArticles.com and find an article about something of personal or business interest you want to comment on.

2. Click on the "Comments" link directly under the TITLE of the article.

3. Add your Comment

4. Enter the CAPTCHA code to authenticate you are a human

5. Within a business day or so, your comment will be reviewed by a human editor that is part of their comment management team.

6. You will receive an email after your comment is approved.

Now you can get a link back to your site without having to write an article. Submitting a comment is only suggested if you simply want the spiders to crawl your sites. I still suggest writing and submitting your own articles for the full benefit of one way links to your site.

There are many sites that you can get links from without sending an email to the webmaster and waiting for a reply. You just have to keep your eyes open and be aware of each site's pagerank.

What is a Web Directory?

Do you have a website and are looking for more traffic? If so you don’t have to despair trying to figure out how you will direct traffic to your site because there is a tried and true way to increase your traffic in no time! The best method to get more traffic is with one way links. You may have heard of reciprocal links in the past, but that requires you to host a link on your site as well. With one way links there is a link to your site, but you don’t have to host a link as well! You might be wondering how you can possibly get other sites to host a link to your site without you having to host a link back, but fortunately it is not only possible but really easy with web directories!

One Way Links and Web Directories

Website directories are simply directories that focus on compiling links to other websites and then categorizing them. There are thousands of web directories on the Web that will allow you as a website owner to submit your website information and link to have included in the web directory. Then, a human will review the submission to approve it for the web directory. Then, your site will have a new one way link in the web directory that will help you reach more people and ultimately get more traffic. Since there are so many web directories you can spend a lot of time submitting your information in order to receive those important one way links. Or else you could hire someone to do it for you. Amazingly, there are many online companies that focus on submitting your link to website directories and since they already know the web directories and how to go about the process they can do it fast and cheap!

Since there are so many directories out there and you want as many links as possible then this might be the best bet for you. Trying to link your site with all of the web directories on the web will take a lot of your time and you won’t be able to focus on other projects or business. Of course, if you have a lot of free time then you can visit all of the web directories you want to submit your website to get a one way link. That is completely up to you, just know there are companies that offer this service for a very reasonable rate.

Some of the most famous web directories are Yahoo! Directory, Open Directory Project, as well as LookSmart, so you will want to start with these. Of course, there are plenty of other web directories to choose from and you might need to do a little online research to figure out which ones are best. Just remember, if you want more traffic for your website start placing some one way links to your site in web directories and watch the visitors come.

Search Engine Marketing – Its all about ROI

For any business to succeed, it is important to understand the Return on Investment the owner is getting. It is basically the profit or turnover being made by them at the end of the day vis a vie the amount invested in the same. This rule applies to every aspect of our life. When we go to college to study, we look for high marks which will assure us a good job. While talking about web portals, they too keep close watch on what their ROI is when investing and creating the website. This is because, every investment needs to yield results for it to be effective, else the approach needs to be altered.

Search engine marketing must take into account the two operational methods – using Search engine optimization (SEO) or pay per click management system. Optimization will work better in the long run, whereas pay per click is mainly to draw specific bracket of traffic onto the site and this works only for a short time. All efforts taken by way of investment and links will go to waste if there is not much of traffic to your portal.

Pay per click works by having the user post as many ads on their page, or posting links on other pages. If a person surfing the net comes across these ads, and clicks on them, the owner will get revenue based on the terms mentioned by the pay per click service provider. The ads placed need to be such that they draw attention to your page and keep the user captivated. It is not that you are spending about $5 on the clicks and the person who comes over to your page and leaves, with no return. Sometimes even by running AdSense on your page, you might find the search engine throws up your page on the results page only if the ad is on the related page and nowhere else.

On the other hand Search engine marketing by using Search engine optimization will yield higher ROI with its effectiveness. While using SEO rich words, make sure to consider the entire content of your site and focus on internet marketing. This will work out better since you know what a person is likely to look for, that will draw them to your site.

Web Directories - General Introduction

Having a web directory is becoming increasingly popular these days. It can bring many benefits such as delivering an increased amount of new visitors and providing a steady income. Google, Yahoo and MSN contribute heavily to its algorithm. Many webmasters are attracted by the fact that they can get traffic from such directories and would pay a small fee or put a reciprocal link to get their website listed in these directories. These benefits will ultimately improve the promotion of the website.

Webmasters are also very interested with inbound links for improving their PR (Page Rank) with Google. A good PR gives better position in Google’s search engine results. In theory the more quality inbound links you get, the higher your PR will go. Directories give a good solution for all webmasters. They also prove to be a good addition to existing web sites.

We can differentiate 3 types of directories: free, reciprocal-link and Pay for Inclusion directories:

1) Free directories are by far the most interesting for webmasters as they can give a high PR without having to spend a penny. However you’ll have to spend some time submitting your website to all of these. They don’t usually give you much traffic either as there is an over abundance of them on the internet.

2) Reciprocal-Link directories require placing a small link into the webmaster’s website. This can be dangerous if the directory has been black listed by Google.

3) Finally, Paid For Inclusion directories can deliver very good results as they usually give better PR and have more traffic than free directories.

However, not all directories will give you good results. Many use a redirect function for linking to your website. Your website won’t benefit from such links. You’ll need a static outgoing link from directories to gain weight with search engines. Many of the directories do offer you deep-linking options which mean that they will allow you to submit more than one URL from your domain in order to get your internal pages more traffic and ranking.

So keep in mind that directories are wholly beneficial for your websites as long as you take the time to carefully plan the submission beforehand by checking if they are not using tricks (redirects, reciprocal). Also, don’t forget to submit your website to the most relevant category on the directory and to read its description!

Unique Content Is Your Key To Success!

As you search around this article site looking for articles to add to your website, consider this: there are probably 10 people like yourself doing the same exact thing. Not only are they doing the same exact thing, but they are probably looking at, and taking the same articles you are considering to add to their site.

Wow. That’s going to do wonders for your hopes to have search engines pick up these new articles and rank your site high in the search engine result pages (S.E.R.P’s). Forgive my brevity, but I was being sarcastic!

Shared articles may be good for putting together quick sites and heavily promoting the same article content that everyone else is promoting, but who are we kidding? Wouldn’t you rather have fresh content NOT picked over by everyone else? Of course you would. Now why should you pay for it when you’re staring at a free article site filled with 100’s of articles that you can use at this exact moment?

Because you CAN buy originality and have original content rank higher than the same old retread articles found over and over again on sites like this! Not only would you have a unique page indexed on the internet and crawled by search engines (sometimes daily), but if you had the right content service at your beck and call, you could be provided with professionally written content reserved for trade publications and offline magazines! There are 1000’s of professional writers out there on the Internet which are willing and able to write your next piece of web content.

Ok, so to go over the key points:
• Copied articles used over and over again- not so good since the search engines may pick up someone else’s copy of the same exact article. Cost effective since it’s free! You get what you pay for.
• Fresh, unique articles- very good usage since it gives the search engines something new to eat up! You get what you pay for.
• Do your research. Find a writer who is professional and understands your subject!
