SEO – White Hat Success or Black Hat Exclusion

In the process of trying to gain popularity and bring in more business, there are some companies that look at adopting some of the common modes of leveraging through Search engine optimization. This might help them or back fire and lead to their site getting black listed from the index. So, at the end of the day, it really does not matter how good or bad their site is, but what means they adopt to increase traffic.

The two methodologies available for SEO is White hat SEO or Black Hat SEO. The names might sound confusing, but they are modes through which people attract visitors to the page. One of this is ethical while the other is unethical and considered similar to cheating. So, when an individual or organisation is desperate for some visibility, they might adopt this mode, which unfortunately leads them to trouble.

White hat is the direct way of search engine marketing and mode of internet marketing through which the user follows guidelines. They use techniques approved by the Search engines. By tweaking the website, or adding some extra words that might attract attention, the user will rely on links, or Pay per click management to increase their traffic. There are no tricks or shortcuts used here; the content of the page is created to serve the user with information and not just for the SEO benefit. Also called organic search listings, these sites rely on their own strengths rather than manipulating the system.

On the other hand, black hat SEO is a route less preferred because it leads to banning of the website if discovered. Here, the owner of the site might have put in content just so they lure search engines. It could be text hidden in the back drop, or placed off the screen. It is also called spamdex, and is unethical, not approved by the search engines either. Cloaking or invisible text are also used in these sites to lure customers to come over to their portal. Here, the user is trying to con the search engine into believing their website has relevant text when a keyword is entered and so tries to increase the ranking of that portal. Search engine optimization through this method will lead to expulsion and loss of rank of the particular website from the index and it will not be shown in the results displayed on the search engines.

Search Engine Marketing – Its all about ROI

For any business to succeed, it is important to understand the Return on Investment the owner is getting. It is basically the profit or turnover being made by them at the end of the day vis a vie the amount invested in the same. This rule applies to every aspect of our life. When we go to college to study, we look for high marks which will assure us a good job. While talking about web portals, they too keep close watch on what their ROI is when investing and creating the website. This is because, every investment needs to yield results for it to be effective, else the approach needs to be altered.

Search engine marketing must take into account the two operational methods – using Search engine optimization (SEO) or pay per click management system. Optimization will work better in the long run, whereas pay per click is mainly to draw specific bracket of traffic onto the site and this works only for a short time. All efforts taken by way of investment and links will go to waste if there is not much of traffic to your portal.

Pay per click works by having the user post as many ads on their page, or posting links on other pages. If a person surfing the net comes across these ads, and clicks on them, the owner will get revenue based on the terms mentioned by the pay per click service provider. The ads placed need to be such that they draw attention to your page and keep the user captivated. It is not that you are spending about $5 on the clicks and the person who comes over to your page and leaves, with no return. Sometimes even by running AdSense on your page, you might find the search engine throws up your page on the results page only if the ad is on the related page and nowhere else.

On the other hand Search engine marketing by using Search engine optimization will yield higher ROI with its effectiveness. While using SEO rich words, make sure to consider the entire content of your site and focus on internet marketing. This will work out better since you know what a person is likely to look for, that will draw them to your site.

Search Engine Optimisation – To Rank or not to Rank

To have an online presence today is the only way to survive in this highly competitive world. And once a company or individual creates a website, they need to make sure it is Search Engine Optimisation(SEO) friendly. There needs to be certain key words and phrases which are inserted which will help get the listed in the major search engines and bring in more business. Internet marketing is the term used by almost everyone today. This is the method by which you market your company, products and services online. Optimization of the net is essential to beat the competition and get up on top in your industry.

Search engine optimization becomes effective when your website is ranked high. That is, when a user types in a keyword, the list displayed as search results must include your site as well. Only then will there be increase in targeted traffic to your site. You can also have pay per click management system on other related sites which will divert traffic to your portal. Being visible in the search engines is the bottom line for any site to succeed and serve its purpose. Else it will be one among the billions of web pages going unnoticed everyday and useless to the company or person who has created it.

Having unique content on your page will also mean you need to adopt a search engine marketing strategy. It becomes all the more important to gain ranking and visibility on the search engines. It’s one thing to get people to visit your site; it’s a whole different ball game trying to keep them coming back for more. This means, not only should your site be interesting, it should also contain all possible optimisation techniques, to draw the same people over and over. There are some sites that people visit repeatedly and it is only because it comes up on top of the organic search engine listings when a specific keyword is typed in the search bar.

Back links help you increase your sites ranking and page rank. The more links you have, the higher the ranking you will gain. And if anyone tells you links don’t rank your site, they probably are ignorant of how valuable the rank status is in boosting your site’s popularity and aiding business. Through internet marketing and search engine optimization, you can increase ROI, overall revenue and build your business within no time. Keep in mind the content of the site should be the key factor luring people to your web page, therefore it needs to be fresh, and unique.

Article Optimization - Directory Submission 101

It is a pleasurable challenge writing to Ezine and Article publishing Directories.  This is the "sandbox" that most writers are contributing to today.  More articles are written and show up as an entry to Google, Yahoo, MSN, AltaVist and other search engines than their are websites.  Some websites are articles in themselves.  It is much easier to write an article than it is to build a new website for most of us.  The common person may not be able to do build their own website, but he or she may have the talent to be a successful writer. Think of the competition though!  Thousands of writers writing about their content, promoting their website, and sharing their ideas.  The numbers are overwhelming!  There are a number of things that a writer needs to be aware of when submitting articles to develop a mass readership.

<b>Article Optimization</b> - If you want your article to show up on page number one of Google, it has to be optimized.  Optimization is done by following some of the simple rules called "Search Engine Optimization".

Choose a <b>high quality article directory</b> to submit to.  This will contribute a great deal to getting the article close to the number one spot.  You can determine the <i>article directories PR rating</i> in Google ·by installing the Google task bar on you browser and going to the article directory website.  Contributing your article to the directory is a very simple thing.  You will have to provide personal information, possibly a pen name, your website url if you have one, and the category you will be writing about.

Use <b>keyword rich content</b> in the title, teaser, and body of the article.  You have to do some keyword research and plug them in to your article every chance that you can.  A good example in this article would be the keyword "<u>article directory</u>".  It has to make sense when you use it.  Once every paragraph or two and your readers will not get bored with the article and keep reading until the end of the article.

Use bold, italic, and underline when it seems appropriate with your keywords.  Using Google, go look up some of your favorite keywords.  You will notice in the list of Google links that the keywords you put in are in bold.  Google picks up on the keywords.  Let me repeat that, Google picks up on the keywords.  In SEO Made Easy, the author indicates that not only does Google pick up on keywords, but Google picks up on keywords that are in bold, italic, and underlined.

Article Directories will let you place one to three incidents of anchor text in the body of the article.  This is an excellent way to <i>get a link back to your website</i>!  Google takes a while to do this, but eventually it will index the article and register the link.  You can work in your keywords in clever fashion this way.  If you have a website, and you are promoting your website in the article, this is the opportunity to use the keywords from your website.  If the article directory allows the technique, html anchor text entries can be made in the body of the article as well as the bio.  The reader would not normally know that html was being used.  Of course the Article Dircetory has to accept html code for this to work.

<b>Use anchor text</b> in the article writers bio.  <i>Most Article Directories</i> accept three, others will only allow you one.  This is the sales pitch.  If you have interesting content in the article, and have succeeded in convincing your reader that your contribution is worth investigating some more, they will want to go to your website and look some more!  This is the author's sincere wish most of all, to gain trust and repore with his or her readers and to start a continuing business relationship.  It can be done with a proper close to the article asking for the reader to "come on in, the water is fine!"

<b>Article Writing</b> - If you want your article to be read from start to finish, <i>choose keywords and content that will make sense to the reader</i>.  Don't try to write about nuclear physics to a business crowd.

<b>Determine your audience</b>.  This is done easily by entering your keywords into Google.  Look at the number of entries returned.  An article will be successful if you choose an audience that is not to large that you cannot compete against and not so small that you will only expose the article too few times to too few readers.  When starting, it is a good idea to start with keywords that are getting about 30 hits a day at Overture.  Normally there would also be less than ten million entries returned from the Google keyword search for your topic.  Work on the larger populations when you get this down.  You will find innumerable targets and keywords that you can do this with.  There is no end to topics available on the internet.  What a rich source of information!

<b>Use original content</b> when submitting to <u>Article Directories</u>.  They have a way of finding out if your content is not original.  Article directory submission guidelines always require you have exclusive license allows your name to be associated with the articles produced for you or by you.  So don't do it.  You will get caught!

Enjoy your writing!  The world is open to to your ideas and more than willing to accept what you have to offer, if it is done the right way!
